This Cendyn CRM article provides a step-by-step guide on creating an email automation campaign. It begins with ensuring a segment and template are ready, followed by navigating the Campaign Manager to select Automations and Create Automation. Users fill in basic information, select the email channel, and drag the desired segments. They then input message details like sender name, subject, and optional preheader text. Users choose a template, ensuring it includes update preferences or unsubscribe links. Scheduling options include Trigger and Chronological Automations, with settings for timing and frequency. Finally, users review and start the automation.
Step 1: Navigate to the Campaign Manager menu and click on Automations:
Step 2: Select Create Automation:
Step 3: Fill in the basic information for your automation.
Step 4: Click on Channels and choose only "Email". If your contact has SMS & Email Marketing, unselect SMS.
Step 5: Head to Segments and drag-drop to the Output column the segment(s) you want to target.
Step 6: Click on Message:
- Fill in required fields like Sender Name, Email Subject, and Sender Email Address.
- Optionally, add Preheader Text (this is what the user will see after the Email Subject before opening the email)and a Reply-to Email Address.
Note:
- If your first section is an image, double-check the alternative text associated to the image, as it may appear as pre-header text.
You can choose the template that you'd like to use.
If your template does not include a link to update preferences or unsubscribe, a message will pop-up. You will need to go to Email Templates to add the link before you are permitted to select that template.
Step 7: Click Schedule. In this section, you have two options:
- Trigger Automation: will send your campaign when a user activity matches the condition of your segment. A couple examples of when to use Trigger Automations:
- Newsletter: When a user signs up for your newsletter , you can set an interval of time from when our CRM receives that sign-up confirmation, to the time we send the message.
- Loyalty: When a user's loyalty status changes from "false" to "true" you can set an automation to send them a welcome email. Or, when their loyalty level changes, you can send them a congratulation email.
- Newsletter: When a user signs up for your newsletter , you can set an interval of time from when our CRM receives that sign-up confirmation, to the time we send the message.
- Chronological Automation: will send the campaign every selected interval (daily, weekly, etc.) to the audience who matches the segment conditions, based on a date. A couple examples of when to use Chronological Automations:
- Birthday: send an email every day to all users who have a birthday that day.
- Check-in or Check-out: send an email every day to users who check-in or check-out that day.
You can select if the automation should only send one time per user
Step 7: If you select Automation Trigger, you can choose minutes after the trigger, from which we will send the email message.
Step 8: If, on the other hand, you select Automation Cron you can select at what time you want the campaign to send.
Step 9: Click Review & Schedule and review every part of your campaign. Once everything is ok, click Start Automation:
