The Content Personalization Engine (CPE) is a module within the Cendyn CMS that captures real-time targeting metric data, and lets hoteliers show personalized content on their hotel website to specific audiences of website visitors.

How it works
Craft a targeted content experience:
- Develop a strategy: determine your target customer by building a detailed profile based on demographics and other relevant characteristics.
- Create an audience: use the Content Personalization Engine module to create an audience based on the relevant target metrics.
- Apply to content: create content and apply the targeted audiences to hero images, special offers, body copy, and more.
Creating a new audience
- Select the Content Personalization module.
- Select Create Audience or New Target Audience.
- Choose a clear name and description to easily reference when applying the audience to content later.
- Select the Add Rule button.
- Select one or more rules from the list of Target options. Once you've selected all the desired rules, confirm your choices by selecting Add.
- Some rules require additional configuration after being added, for example adding a State rule will require you to choose states and whether or not they should be excluded or included.
- Once all rules have been added and configured, select Save.
Tip: For example, build audiences based on location (local residents, drive markets, international travelers), travel preferences (families, couples, short trips, extended stays), purchase behavior (early birds, last-minute bookers), weather (sunny escapes, cozy winter getaways), and more.
Applying an audience to content
Once an audience has been created, it can be applied to any piece of content that has a Target Audience drop down.
Some examples of content that can have an audience applied are Pages, Hero Images, ACM sections, and Special Offers.
FAQs
- Repeat Visitor: CPE defines a repeat visitor if more than 30 minutes have passed since the visitor first went to the site. If the visitor leaves and comes back to the site within 30 minutes, they will still be considered as part of the same initial session and will not see any repeast visitor content.
- Incognito or Private Browsers: CPE does not capture session data if someone visits the site in a private browser or incognito window. These users will be served generic content.
- Completed a Booking: Use completed a booking to rule out anyone who has already booked to target potential guests instead of confirmed guests.
- Any vs All: You can choose whether the visitor needs to meet all of the rules (All) or can meet any of the rules (Any) to see the content.
