We're excited to share new features coming your way on December 16, 2024, with minimal downtime expected. This release marks a significant step toward aligning Cendyn Catering with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), enhancing the accessibility of published content for people with disabilities. While this update greatly advances compliance, additional improvements, including alt text for images and tooltips, are on the horizon to complete full accessibility compliance. No extra configuration or support is needed—accessibility is built right in!

How Does It All Work?
Keyboard-friendly Navigation
- Use the Tab key to move through interactive elements in a logical visual sequence.
- Standard keystrokes are supported for all interactive elements, aiding keyboard users.
Focus Indicators for Interactive Elements
- Interactive elements are clearly indicated.
Skip Links
Skip Links let users bypass repetitive menus and go straight to main content or main navigation — perfect for assistive technology users.
- Placement: A hidden skip link button is placed at the top-left of the Catering page. It becomes the first focusable element when using the Tab key.
- Functionality: Press Tab or Alt + 0 to reveal skip link options like "Skip to Main Content" or "Skip to Main Navigation." Activating these links allows quick jumps to key areas of the page.
ARIA Labels
ARIA Labels help screen readers interpret and announce interactive elements, ensuring clarity for users with disabilities.
Enhanced Multi-Language Support for Screen Readers
We’ve made significant updates to improve multi-language accessibility for screen reader users, ensuring content is read accurately in the user's preferred language.
Updates
- Language Tags: HTML language tags have been repositioned to clearly indicate the language of site content, helping screen readers identify and read it correctly.
- ARIA Label Translations: ARIA labels are now translated into all supported languages, ensuring screen readers pronounce them accurately. Check out the full list of supported languages.

Multi-Language Modal Enhancements:
- The language selection modal in Catering now ensures consistency in how screen readers pronounce language names. For example, a screen reader set to French will now always read the language names correctly in French, resolving previous inconsistencies.
- Language names are also displayed in their native name when hovered over, adding clarity for all users.
