After building and saving your audience, generate and review your counts.
In this article
Initiate a Count
Prior to generating counts for a new audience, the summary at the top of the count panel will show "– Total Records."
On the Audience Details page, select the arrow next to the summary to generate counts.
You'll see a message that your counts are being generated.
Counts are generated in the background allowing you to continue working while they run.
Alternatively, on the Audience List page, select the arrow in the Counts column, then Generate to generate counts.
You'll see the same message that your counts are being generated.
On the Audience List page, you can also choose Details for an audience. Then select Generate in the Channel Counts area.
Notifications
By default, notifications are enabled, which means you'll receive a notification email when your count is complete. Select the toggle to disable notifications if you prefer not to receive a notification email.
Count Panel
When the count is finished, select the arrow next to the summary to expand the count panel.
Preview Campaign Settings
While building your campaign, you can fine-tune its audience using the Campaign Settings in the Criteria tab by choosing to include or exclude unsubscribed, bounced and non-consent emails. To preview your audience counts with those same inclusions or exclusions, go to the Audience Details > Channel Counts area and select the Settings icon. This will bring up the Preview Campaign Settings box where you can toggle unsubscribed, bounced and non-consent emails to see how they impact your counts. For example, in the image below all email types are included.
The toggle for unsubscribed emails is off in the image below, excluding them from the counts. As a result, the total records has 26,041 fewer then before.
The Campaign Settings Preview is only a preview. You must make any desired changes of which lists to include/exclude in Campaign Settings.
Save or Save & Publish
If you are satisfied with your counts, select Save or Save & Publish to proceed.
If you are not satisfied with your counts, repeat the steps in Building an Audience to modify your audience.
Last Run On
The date and time that your count was last generated and saved is noted at the bottom of the count panel. The data of that most recent count is always cached (stored away for future reference). This means you can return to a previously generated count and conveniently see your results without needing to regenerate the count – saving you time when you just want an approximation of an audience.
Of course, whether you've updated your audience criteria or time has passed since you last ran your count, you can always select Generate to run a new count. Furthermore, audiences are always automatically refreshed before being used for a campaign.
