Managing your Master Templates is quick and easy with the new Manage Template landing page and these Template Details tabs: Summary, Preview, Testing, Campaigns and History.
Manage Templates Page
Navigate to Campaigns > Templates.
You'll see the Manage Template landing page in the Card View.
Create a New Master Template
New templates will be available in the Template tab during the Create Campaign process. Select Create Template to create a new template in Studio. (New templates can no longer be created in the legacy editors.)
In the Create Template view, enter a name and a brief description for the template. In the tags field, type the text for a new tag and select Enter to create a new tag, or click into the field and select a pre-existing tag from the drop-down list. Start typing in the properties field, then select all the properties that should be able to use the template. Select Save and you're ready to build the Master Template.
Dynamic content, personalization tags, and add-on snippets can be inserted into a Master Template. While dynamic content can be edited and formatted in a Master Template, personalization tags and add-on snippets cannot be formatted in the Master Template. Rather, they must be formatted after the template has been applied to a campaign.
Choose a View for the Manage Template Page
You can easily toggle between the Card View and the List View.
Locate an Existing Template
On the Card View you can type into the search bar or select sort options from the drop-down list. On the List View, you can search by columns or sort the columns.
List View: Search by Columns
Select the filter icon to open a search pop-up. Choose either Starts With, Ends With, Contains, or Equal from the drop-down list. Then enter any term to search within that particular column. Select Filter to view your results or add search terms to one or more other columns and select Filter.
- You can enter a part of a whole to search for the whole. For instance, you can enter "sum" to search for the word, "summer."
- You cannot use search wild cards such as an asterisk.
- Searching in the Name/Editor column, will produce results for both the Name and the Editor type.
List View: Sort Columns
Click on the name of any column to sort by that column.
Card View Information
The Card View displays:
- A mini-preview of the template.
- The template name and editor type (Studio, Code (Legacy) or Drag & Drop (Legacy)).
- Tags associated with the template.
- How many campaigns are using the template. (See note below.)
- Date the template was last updated.
- Template status.
A user's property access affects the number of campaigns displayed. For example, the template has been used to create one campaign for three different properties for a total of three campaigns. Since User A has access to all three properties, User A would see all three campaigns and their details. However, User B has access to only one property and therefore will only see one campaign and its details.
Actions within the Manage Template Page Card View
- Select View Details to jump to the Template Details Summary tab.
Or, select a tool from the toolbar:
- Select Edit to open the template in the Studio editor.
- Select Preview to open the template in a full-size preview window.
- Select Clone to create a new, cloned template in the Edit Template view where you can rename and edit it.
- Select Delete to delete the template.
Only templates that are compatible with Studio are editable and can be cloned. You can continue to use templates created in the legacy HTML or Drag & Drop editors during the campaign creation process. However, they must be converted to Studio to edit or clone them. (Coming soon: How to convert a template created in a legacy editor to the Studio editor.)
Deleting a template is permanent and cannot be reversed.

Template Details Tabs
Template Details Summary
View general details, the properties associated with the template and key template history on the Summary tab. In the General card, you can change the template's status from Active to Inactive and back. Templates with an Active status can be used within the campaign creation process while those with an Inactive status cannot.
Deactivating templates no longer in use makes locating the ones you use easier to find.
Preview
Select the Preview tab to view a full-size preview of your template within the same browser tab.
Testing
View your latest results of the Basic Validation report on the Testing tab or select Run Again to create a new one. Hover over an image link to preview the image. Hover over a link in the Links area to view its status. Click on a link to open it in a new tab.
Campaigns
All campaigns that are using this Master Template are listed here. Select a Project ID to open the Campaign Details of a campaign that is using the template in a new browser window.
History
View a change log of your template which details when a change was made and by whom. Select View adjacent to any version to view what the template looked like at that time. While viewing a previous version, you can select Revert to permanently revert the template to that state.
All changes made after the point you are reverting to are permanently lost. For example, a template was updated on May 15, May 18 and May 24. If you revert the template to its state on May 15, the updates made on May 18 and May 24 will be deleted.
