May 2025
As a reminder, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s new drip pricing rule takes effect on May 12, 2025. Hotels must now display the total price upfront to any guest browsing from the U.S.—including the room rate and all mandatory fees (excluding government taxes and fees).
What’s Required
Under this new rule, base rates can no longer be shown separately from required fees such as resort or service charges. The goal is full transparency for travelers—and no surprise fees at checkout.
