When you update an account address, B2B Sales provides you with the option of updating the business address of the contact at the same time. Depending on your Options setting, the update process will be completely automatic, be prompted by a confirmation message or be semi-automatic.
You can switch between these possibilities by activating/deactivating the contact checkboxes in Options from the Tools menu.
Note: No matter what the settings automatic address updates only affect the Business Address or the PO box address of contacts. The private addresses of contacts remain untouched.
Using the automatic contact address update
Let us assume that you have opted for the fully automatic contact address update. Once you have modified the account address, B2B Sales asks you whether you want to update the contact addresses of this account, too.
Simply click Yes to confirm or No to abort the operation. Clicking Yes overwrites the old in favor of the new business address in every contact record without exceptions. The same goes for the PO box address.
In the semi-automatic mode you can make exceptions for given contact addresses.
Using semi-automatic contact address update
- Edit the account address as usual
- Click Ok to save the new account address. B2B Sales displays the Contact Address Update dialog box.
On tabs 1 and 2, you will find a comparison of the old and new business address/PO box address. In our example, the old street number is 77, the new one 71.
- On the Addresses To Be Changed tab (tab 3), under Contact Name, select the contact you want. In our example: Miller, Robert.
In the field below, under Addresses of, B2B Sales will list the addresses you have recorded for this contact; two addresses in our example.
Tab 3 shows the update options that B2B Sales has worked out for this contact:
- The Add Address checkbox is cleared since the address does already exist in the contact record. So it is unnecessary to add the address again.
- The first Change checkbox is selected since B2B Sales assumes that we want to update the old street number 77 with the new street number 71.
- The second Change checkbox is cleared since we have not changed the PO box address.
You can override these update options at any time. Tab 4 provides a preview of the changes you are about to perform.
For a description of the checkboxes and buttons available in the Contact Address Update dialog box, see the below table.
- If you want to exempt an address from the update process, clear the respective Change checkbox.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 for all contacts whose addresses you want to update or exempt from the update.
- Click Apply for B2B Sales to carry out the update. B2B Sales displays the Continue with update message box.
- Click Yes to confirm. (Click No to abort the operation).
B2B Sales updates the addresses and closes the dialog box.
Tip: To see the results, click the Contacts tab and open the contact record you want.

Restore Defaults |
Use Restore Defaults to view which update options B2B Sales recommends. You can override them at any time. B2B Sales tries to guess the best course of action. So the update options vary depending on the changes you have made. |

Use Apply to start the update process. |
